I’m Shakima or Kima for short, I was born and raised in Ridgeland and I’ve been a member of the Sisterlocks (TM) family for almost 6 years. Wheeewww time flies, when you don’t have to spend it doing your hair!
Honestly though, it’s the best choice I’ve ever made. I found a new sense of purpose and enlightenment going through the lock stages and I wanted to be apart of giving other women the same experience, so Come on home to Sisterlocks!

What are Microlocks?
Unlike Sisterlocks™, Microlocks are not trademark and they do not have to be established by a Certified Consultant, however it is suggested to have them established by a trained professional.
Microlocks does not have a specific grid and they can be established by braids, two strand twist, interlocked or extensions. The flexibility in size and method makes them a more cost efficient option for those wanting locks smaller than traditional locks.
What are Microlock Extensions?
Using one of the Microlock methods mentioned, natural extensions will be added into your lock. This is done for a number of reasons and can be done using multiple methods. The method that’s right for you will depend on your hair. I will work with you to determine which method is best.
What are Sisterlocks™?
Sisterlocks™ were crafted and trademarked in 1993 by Dr. JoAnne Cornwell. Her motivation was to find a way for black women to do their hair without using extensions or chemicals. Although this hairstyle was invented in 1993, more than two decades ago, it remains one of the most popular hairstyles for natural hair.
Sisterlocks™ is offered as a package of 3 visits:
1. The Sisterlocks™ Consultation
2. The Locking Session (may be divided into two-three sessions to manage client's sitting time).
3. The follow-up re-tightening session (done after at least 2 shampooings).
Sisterlocks™ is a natural hair management system that creates tiny style-able locks. It allows women with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today's hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair or add any products or heat. Even if your hair is relaxed you can still get sisterlocks, you just need about 2-3 inches of new growth.
